The University of Georgia recently has targeted a few point guards in the 2011 class and one of them recently came in for an unofficial visit. Birmingham (AL) Pleasant Grove point guard Ricky Tarrant was in Athens to watch the Bulldogs football team take on LSU and also get his first look at the school.

Tarrant played this summer with the Alabama Challenge AAU program on both 16U and 17U teams and played very well against some top competition. Several high major programs took notice of the 6-foot, 160-pound point guard.

"I´m hearing from Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Butler. I have an offer from UAB, and I have gotten like two or three letters from Memphis. Wichita State has come to my school as well," said Tarrant.

While UAB is Tarrant´s only offer, three schools who have not yet offered Tarrant find themselves at the top his current list.
"It would probably be Georgia, Alabama, and Butler. It would probably between those three right now," said the Birmingham talent.

Tarrant´s interest in the University of Georgia did not come out of nowhere. The Bulldog coaching staff has done a very good job of recruiting Tarrant, particularly Georgia assistant coach Phillip Pearson.

"I really like them. I like Coach Pearson. He has come to my school like three or four times and I really like Coach (Mark)
Fox as well," Tarrant exclaimed.

Tarrant´s recent visit to Athens only enhanced his interest in the school. He came away very impressed with everything the school had to offer.

"The campus, the facilities, the coaching staff, and everything. I just like the vibe from their school," admitted Tarrant.

The Alabama native made sure he experienced everything he possibly could while in Athens, including taking in an exciting SEC football game.

"We played scrimmage games, then we tailgated and ate food and then we went to the football game," Tarrant explained.

While taking part in the scrimmage games, the 2011 standout got the chance to see how his game currently stacks up with other Bulldog targets and current Bulldog players. Tarrant seemed pleased with the way he performed.

"I think I did pretty good. It was fun. It was me and a couple of other players they are recruiting and we ran a couple scrimmage games," said Tarrant.

Tarrant describes himself as "a good point guard that can find his players, and get to the basket real well." He averaged 19 points per game last year as a sophomore for Pleasant Grove as well as dishing out 5 assists per game.
